As Jedi they had weight and voice, but they do not have a seat in the Senate, and any justice they might make moves toward would have to handed over to the Senate unless it were strictly Jedi business. The problem is that Obi-Wan can now see in hindsight with crystal clarity, and all of it just sounds like a poor excuse. ]
